SCADA/Controls Engineer

Job Functions
This position requires high level of hands-on knowledge of manufacturing equipment, practices, machine maintenance, instrumentation, repair skills and systems; including PC, robotics, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC (& others) programming, A/B Servo programming and Factory Talk View SCADA. Work effectively in a team with other organizations internal and external, ability to organize work load and work effectively toward milestones with minimal direction from manager and advises. Provide instruction in operation, set-up, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of machines and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for SCADA/Control systems; selection, design, programming and implementation
  • Be able to prepare system integration plans, system specification, and factory and site acceptance test documents
  • Be able to design all system levels and defines system components including System Architecture drawings, wiring diagrams, points lists, configurations, HMI screens, and a detailed bill of materials
  • Work on a project team as the lead technical person for SCADA/Control Systems
  • Establish overall SCADA level requirements; including system specifications
  • Work with vendors to design, program and implement a central Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for the new facility
  • Responsible for the design the integration of selected shop floor information with SAP and quality systems
  • Work to implement manufacturing metrics and asset management plans.
  • Prepare system test plans
  • Support preparation of project plans, schedules, budgets and proposals
  • Plant support for troubleshooting issues with the MES, SCADA, Server, Network and PLC systems
  • Capable of PLC programming and PLC network configuration setup and debug
  • Can calibrate instruments
  • Responsible for the implementation, startup and troubleshooting of MES or PLC software and hardware
  • Responsible for design and implementation of safety circuits

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a degree (AS or BS) in Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience working as a SCADA/Applications programmer
  • Understanding of controls architecture and controls networking (ControlNet, Devicenet, Ethernet), Process controls
  • Possess a strong knowledge of design, specification and implementation of software and/or hardware systems
  • Strong working knowledge of software applications such as Visual Basic, C++, Java, SQL, Rockwell RS Logix including HMI and programming skills. Other software packages a plus
  • Communication experience including RS232, RS485, fiber optic, serial & Ethernet networking (IP addressing schemes, subnets)
  • HMI development, configuration and implementation of Rockwell software. Programming using Factory Talk Systems
  • Must demonstrate a structured approach to the job with the ability to set priorities as well as focus on details
  • Strong communications, analytical, problem solving and organizational/planning skills
  • Understanding and experience in industrial electricity, electrical control systems, servo, inverter, machine and systems architecture and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Understanding and experience for applicable NFPA, NEC, ANSI and GMP standards. Ex: NFPA 79, NFPA 70
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10 - 15% of time; to include international travel

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
  • If currently a Hero/Beechnut employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 12 months and have at least a satisfactory performance rating
