Beech-Nut Gives Back 2020
1,000 Families Served in Contact-less Distribution of Food Boxes During Fourth Annual Beech-Nut Gives Back Event

Amsterdam, NY - Beech-Nut colleagues rolled up their sleeves and handed out food boxes to more than 1,000 local families in need at its annual food distribution event, which due to Covid-19 the event was setup as a drive-thru.
The event, known as Beech-Nut Gives Back, was run by Beech-Nut volunteers who wore face masks and followed social distance protocols as they loaded items such as Fruit & Veggie Bars and pouches from Beech-Nut. The boxes also contained other food items from local companies, such as nutritious kids’ meals from Yumble, fresh fruits and vegetables from Genecco Produce, NYS apples from Farm Fresh First and Mancuso Marketing, and bread from Bimbo Bakeries into the hundreds of vehicles that lined up for the contact-less pickup.
“It is wonderful to see our team, community partners, and generous supporters come together to help our local community,” said Dianne Jacobs, President & CEO Beech-Nut. “Our team has worked diligently over the past few months to make this event possible, while also making sure everyone’s health and safety was top priority. I am proud of what we were able to accomplish and the number of families we were able to help.”
The event was organized by the Beech-Nut Mission Team, a small group of associates dedicated to making a difference locally and nationally through real food and sustainability initiatives.
This year proved to be a new challenge in many ways for the team not only due to doubling the previous years’ distribution efforts, but also because of the transformation of the event to a drive-thru experience for attendees.
“We worked for weeks on the logistics of the event,” said Brittany Duncan, leader of the Beech-Nut Mission Team. “We know how much this event means to our associates who look forward to volunteering and to the members of the local community who are provided with healthy and nutritious foods to take home to their families. It definitely involved some extra coordination, but our team did a great job executing our vision.”
