Helping Hands – Beech-Nut Giving in 2022

Beech-Nut® “Helping Hands” Makes an Impact on Food Insecurity

Company values inspire local and national giving in 2022

AMSTERDAM, NEW YORK (November 28, 2022) - Beech-Nut® Nutrition Company, an award-winning baby and toddler food manufacturer, takes its role of feeding young children very seriously, especially when it comes to children in need. Amanda Ettinger, Consumer Engagement Manager and co-chair of Beech-Nut’s “Helping Hands” community-service initiatives, refers to the company’s mission as she describes this past year’s activity. “We work hard to deliver high-quality products to families around the country, while keenly aware that 1 out of 8 kids in the U.S. is living in hunger. We prioritize making Beech-Nut available to young children who need it the most. It is not only the right thing to do, but it also brings our company together as a team.”

As a supporter of No Kid Hungry since 2018, Beech-Nut has worked on various campaigns to bring more awareness to the issue of childhood hunger and to help families. Since 2018, Beech-Nut has helped No Kid Hungry’s community partners serve over 7.25 Million meals.

  • Distributed over $57,200 worth of nutritious food to over 1,000 families with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York at its 6th Annual Beech-Nut Gives Back Event.
  • Donated 1,000 jars and 300 infant cereal canisters to The Neighborhood Center, , a childcare center in Utica, N.Y., to help offset parents' financial burdens.
  • Gave over 17,000 pouches and jars of baby food to the United Way of the Greater Capital Region for its annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign to help feed hungry families around Albany, N.Y.
  • Partnered with the Amsterdam and Canajoharie school districts to provide 30 local families a full Thanksgiving Day meal.

Meanwhile, nearly 45,000 jars, pouches, snacks, and cereals were delivered to families in crisis. World of Giving helped to deliver Beech-Nut products to displaced families in Ukraine, while the Red Cross of Eastern New York brought Beech-Nut food to families stranded by Hurricane Ian in Florida.

Kelvyn Vasquez, Operations Specialist, says, “Every day I am proud to work for a company that makes the world a better place, making the best food for babies. My favorite moment is when we give back to the community at our annual food drive. Any opportunity that I have to give back, I am always there.”

Ettinger also shines a light on employee-driven connection to the community, amplifying the causes of importance to the Beech-Nut team in Amsterdam. “We recently hosted a Beech-Nut Employee/Family Art Show & Auction to benefit Creative Connections Clubhouse, a center for youth & young adults.” Each year, Beech-Nut sponsors the City of Amsterdam Youth Summer Camp, coordinates on-site bake sales operated by and benefitting Haven of Hope, and purchases gifts and necessities for families during the holidays.
