Books, Babies and Beech-Nut. Supporting Project: Cameron’s Story
At Beech-Nut, our commitment to our community runs deep. One of the most meaningful ways we give back is through our partnership with a beloved local organization: Project: Cameron’s Story. Since 2017, we have proudly participated in their annual book drive, helping to provide brand- new books to families with newborns in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). It is a cause that resonates deeply with our team and reflects the values we strive to uphold every day.
Over the years, Beech-Nut has donated thousands of books through this initiative—including 408 books in 2025 alone—demonstrating our ongoing dedication to supporting families during some of their most challenging moments.
To truly understand the heart behind this mission, it is important to hear from the person who started it all. Sara, Cameron’s mother and the founder of Project: Cameron’s Story, shared her story to us:
“Project: Cameron’s Story was really ‘born’ with my son, Cameron. To connect with my baby [who could not be held by me in the NICU], I turned to something that was one of the only things that remotely resembled “normal” at that time—reading. Having a baby born so early and so sick, was terrifying and the NICU—even with all the wonderful people there—was intimidating. Reading to Cameron gave me a purpose; it gave me a “center” during a time when everything seemed uncertain.
After Cameron passed, the mission of PCS, did the same thing for me and eventually for others too. Now, alongside a board of 14 amazing individuals, we work to bring Cameron’s story to 22 of the largest hospitals in New York State so that other families might be able to experience some of that “normalcy” too. With the help of some incredible partners, including our generous friends at Beech-Nut, we have been able to deliver over 300,000 brand-new children’s books to NICU’s across New York State since 2009. We are forever grateful for the support we have received and your willingness to share Cameron’s story.”
Sara’s words remind us why this initiative matters so much—not just to the families receiving the books, but to everyone who supports the mission. Her story continues to inspire our team at Beech-Nut, where nurturing families is at the heart of everything we do.
