Jess Lanfare

We asked Jess Lanfare 20 Questions:

  1. What do you love most about your career at Beech-Nut Nutrition? I love how much opportunity I have had to grow professionally and collaborate with coworkers across different departments. I have learned so much about the industry!
  2. What gets you out of bed in the morning? It’s a toss up between the cats or the toddler and who wants to be fed first.
  3. What’s your favorite perk to working at Beech-Nut Nutrition? It’s awesome that we have our own café that serves breakfast and lunch, so I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to pack for myself in the mornings.
  4. What do you do to live a balanced life? I try to live in the moment, work when I’m at work and be actively present when I’m with my family and friends. Be mindful vs mind full.
  5. How would you describe Beech-Nut Nutrition in 5 words or less? Full of hard-working people.
  6. What is your favorite product that we make at Beech-Nut Nutrition? Now, Banana Orange Pineapple, but we used to make an Apple Mango Orange that was delish!
  7. How would you describe your work style? I love checking off lists and looking at data! Most of my work requires supportive data, analytics, and logical thinking.
  8. If you could have dinner with someone living or dead who would it be? It depends, can they cook?! I’d rather just have a nice dinner with my family.
  9. What is your favorite company or person to follow? No one in particular, but I do love a good craft or DIY project.
  10. What is your best life hack? Treat yourself to an Instant Pot. It’ll change how you do dinner.
  11. What have you learned at Beech-Nut Nutrition that you will never forget? Wow, it’s hard to narrow it down to one. In general, when a determined team comes together, they can accomplish anything. During the “transformation” we successfully ran 40 new products, on a new line, in less than 40 days.
  12. What is the weirdest job you have ever had? Not super weird, but I was a Teaching Assistant for a Floral Arrangement class in college.
  13. What has been your biggest career success? Training for 5 years under Bob Harvey, BN’s Process Authority, to become recognized as a Process Authority myself.
  14. What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as a leader? I try my best to observe other leaders and what they do to support and encourage their team and also how their team reacts. I appreciate that my team keeps an open line of communication with me, I feel very fortunate.
  15. What is your biggest outside interest? I love farm life! Bring on the horseback riding, stall cleaning, tractor driving, gardening, & chicken keeping.
  16. What is a book you have read recently? Green Eggs and Ham has been a recent reoccurring nightly favorite by my daughter, though I’ve been slowly reading Raising Good Humans by Hunter Clarke-Fields when I have the time.
  17. How do you incorporate our mission (Delight Consumers by Conserving the Goodness of Nature) into your role every day? Very simply, I consider if I would feed what we’re making to my own tiny consumer, and would she like it?
  18. How and where do you find inspiration? I find that inspiration seems to find me when I need it, just need to allow myself time to observe what’s happening around me.
  19. What are you most passionate about in your role? Collaborating cross-functionally to improve our processes and at the same time learn so much from my co-workers.
  20. What are three things still left on your bucket list? Take my daughter to Disney World, upholster my own furniture, and train a green horse.
