Our Naturals & Organics Jars & Process
In 2014, we developed our Gentle CookingTM process to keep our Organics and Naturals baby food purees closer to nature with real fruits and vegetables.
We prioritize using high quality, frozen ingredients, minimizing the use of pre-pureed ingredients. When we can, we support local farmers by sourcing New York-grown fruits & vegetables, such as apples, corn, and green beans.
We produce all Beech-Nut puree jars at our company headquarters in Amsterdam, New York, a small, upstate town in the Mohawk River Valley. Our LEED Certified facility was built in 2011 with state-of-the-art food processing and testing technology, and we are constantly seeking ways to innovate.

Ingredient Sourcing
We only source crops from GAP-certified, American farms or from GFSI-certified produce companies. These governances mandate crop traceability to its specific growing field, prior land usage disclosures, soil sampling test data and other requirements.
For all Beech-Nut jars, we avoid sourcing ingredients from certain countries and regions within the U.S., due to heavy metals & metalloid concerns.
Cooking Process
Gentle Cooking™ Technology
Step 1: Puree & Blend Cold
We puree & blend our ingredient combinations “cold.” Avoiding a “heat-blending” step helps our purees retain nutrients, colors and flavors.
Step 2: Remove Air
Removing air from our ingredient-blending vats lets us skip adding unnecessary, artificial preservatives.
Step 3: Cook using Indirect Heat
We cook using “indirect heat,” like that of your home double boiler. This means our ingredients are not cooked within water, so the flavor and nutrients do not get watered down! Cook time varies according to the ingredients; you would not cook a pear and a sweet potato for the same length of time, so neither do we.
Beech-Nut’s cooking equipment is made of food grade, stainless steel. Our testing protocol has demonstrated that no heavy metals or metalloids, such as lead, cadmium, or inorganic arsenic, are leeched into foods during manufacturing.
Step 4: Let in Fiber
We use special strainers to help reduce the amount of natural fibers that get filtered out from ingredients during processing. (That’s why you may see some fiber settlement at the bottom of our jars!) The USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans has identified dietary fiber as a “dietary component of public health concern for underconsumption” during the second year of life.
Thick Purees
Because our Gentle Cooking™ process avoids cooking in hot water, lets in fiber, removes excess air and avoids unnecessary additives, our Naturals & Organics Jars are thick, textured & vibrant purees with preserved nutrients and delicious tastes your little ones will love.
