Our single-grain rice infant cereal can be a perfect first food for baby, starting at about 4 months. Stage 1 Beech-Nut® Rice Cereal is made with non-GMO rice for a creamy, easy-to-digest texture. It also provides 45% of baby’s daily value of iron, an essential nutrient to support early brain development. You can mix this cereal with breast milk, formula, water, or Beech-Nut® baby food puree to create a soft food for baby that helps supplement their iron intake as you start solid foods. Comes in a portable plastic canister, where you can use the lid to measure and mix.

Special Note: We recently made a short-term change in this product to use organic brown rice flour instead of the white rice flour we have used in the past. This change is temporary until roughly October 2019, though we are working quickly to get new batches of white rice cereal on shelf as soon as possible. If you have any concerns please contact us.

  • Great customer service

Regarding the posts about the difference in rice cereal recently: I had contacted the company because we had the same issues. From my very first email, they took care of me immediately. Addressed the issue, apologized, and went above and beyond to right mishap. Not once, but twice. Not only did they tell me which canisters NOT to purchase due to the mix up, but they also sent me 10 free product coupons and a teddy bear for my son. After a few weeks I was having trouble finding the correct canisters around my local stores. I emailed once again and they sent me 6 of the correct rice version for free! I am very pleased and will always be a beechnut purchaser. Thank you so much for having people work there who care.
  • Not the same x 2

Agree with not the same post- we went to 5 different stores and bought 2 containers at each and all but one store had the same white powdered form verse the new brown flakes - my daughter loses it when we try and give her the brown flakes kind and now I have a ton of extra containers..... upsetting.
    Response from Beech-Nut®:
Oh no! We're sorry to hear this change isn't agreeing with your little one. Can you please reach out to us directly at care@beechnut.com or by phone at (800)-233-2468?
  • Not the same

I have used Beechnut rice for my infant son every since it was recommended by his gastroenterologist, but recently I have noticed that the cereal appears brown, not the normal white color. Its texture is also different. It seems something has changed, I stopped using it
    Response from Beech-Nut®:
Thanks for reaching out about your worry! The reason the color is different in the rice cereal is that we made a temporary switch to brown rice (which is equally nutritious for your little one) versus our usual white rice. We made this change due to a supply issue, and we promise that every precaution has been taken to ensure the brown rice is equally safe, nutritious, and easy to digest for your little one. We are happy to answer any further questions you may have. We welcome you to reach out directly to care@beechnut.com or by phone at (800)-233-2468.
  • The only cereal my daughter would eat
We call my daughter the Princess and the pea because she’s very picky about what she will and will not eat. The beech nut rice cereal is the only cereal she would eat. She would reject any other brand.
  • Awesome customer service!

A few weeks ago my daughter had a reaction to the brown rice the company had switched to. After reaching out I found out they would eventually be switching back to white rice but it would be a few months. My daughter has MSPI and white rice is literally the only cereal she did not have a bad reaction too. I tried in vain to find older versions of white rice locally with no luck which left us in a predicament since all of the other brands added soy. I came home from work today to find a package and a beautiful hand written card from Beechnut. They went out of their way to get us the white cereal version for our daughter! I cannot say how thankful I am enough. This really shows how caring they are and they aren’t just some corporation. They care about their customers and for that I am so so grateful. Thank you Beech-Nut!
  • New recipe is horrible

We have used this for a long time and with our recently bottle, it’s a completely different recipe. My son hates it and I hate it, it doesn’t work for us at all and we are super disappointed.
  • Why change what works?
    DisappointedMom
Earlier this week I purchased your stage 1 rice cereal to help thicken my sons bottle and help settle his reflux. It worked a charm. It was, of course, a super fine snow white powder that my toddler took upon himself to pour on the kitchen floor in an effort to help make bottle for the little one. I purchased a new one today (literally 4 days later 7/28/19 for those wondering how recent these reviews are) and now its brown flakes that will not pass through the nipple of a bottle. Why would you change what so many people were happy with WITHOUT letting the consumer know? It's not the same product, but the ingredient list doesn't indicate it's made differently at all nor does the packaging. I'm disappointed. I did not expect this from this company, and am doubly disappointed I have to switch brands.
    Response from Beech-Nut®:
Thank you for taking the time to voice your concern. We follow every labeling regulation necessary, and it’s not required to specify the type of rice used in the cereal. We have strict quality standards for our rice (whether it’s white or brown rice), and we want you to feel confident that every precaution has been taken to ensure that the brown rice is equally safe, nutritious, and easy to digest for your little one. We switched to brown rice only for a temporary time, and due to consumer feedback like yours, we will be returning to our original white rice. So, thank you! We felt it was important to let our consumers know so we made an adjustment to the Rice Cereal page on our website. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at care@beechnut.com or by phone at (800)-233-2468.
  • Unfortunate Change
    Mr. Ripley
We have been using the Rice cereal for the last 2 months. It has been the only one our daughter could tolerate and would mix well with the formula. The new brown rice they are using for this product does not mix as well and tend to clog the nipple of the bottle. Its great that it will be fixed by October but unfortunately that doesn't help the issues that my daughter has has with it and the other rice cereals.
    Response from Beech-Nut®:
We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback! We assure you that we are working diligently to get the traditional white rice cereal back on shelves for little ones to enjoy. Can you please reach out to us at care@beechnut.com or by phone at (800)-233-2468so we can chat further?
  • Great

This is the only brand my baby can use because of her food protein allergy to milk n soy
  • Very Disappointed!

My daughter has MSPI and we were told to use this cereal to thicken her Neocate to reduce any reflux she was experiencing and it worked wonders! Then all of a sudden you switched to brown rice. This caused pretty bad GI and skin symptoms in my daughter. How can a company go from a safe single grain rice like white rice and just switch to something like brown rice which is higher on the allergen scale? I contacted the company and was told to avoid the Oct and Nov 2021 exp date. Well it turns out all of the stores only carry this. When I contacted the company I was told they don't have anymore of the white rice but they're "working hard to get their hands on some." WHAT?! I am very very disappointed in this company and their disregard for kids with food intolerances.
    Response from Beech-Nut®:
Thank you for contacting our Consumer Care team and letting us know about your issue. As we mentioned on the phone, we have temporarily switched the ingredient used in our cereal to an organic brown rice flour instead of the rice flour we have used in the past. We are happy to work with you to accommodate your concern -- we'll be back in touch.
