3 Ways to Add More Veggies

You know Beech-Nut® jar purees are great for feeding time for your baby, but did you know that our fruit & veggie blends can also be used to add more nutrients into your toddler’s meals? Especially when you are seeking a fast, easy weeknight meal like mac & cheese or pasta, or even a fast breakfast like oatmeal or cereal, a Beech-Nut® puree can be a fast way to add more fruits and veggies – without any chopping or peeling!

Our friend Jen over at The Effortless Chic (check out her blog here!) suggested three easy ways to use baby food as a nutritious ingredient in toddler meals when you’re short on time. Let us know what tips & tricks you’ve used before to sneak more veggies into your kids’ food. Here’s what Jen does:

For breakfast, I made oatmeal the same way I always do in the morning, but this time added a generous swirl of Beech-Nut® Naturals™ Apple & Pumpkin puree, a sprinkle of cinnamon and sliced bananas. Pumpkin is a source of Vitamin A and C—both of which help boost the immune system! Plus, it looks and smells so fall!

For lunch, I made vegan mac and cheese (Parker’s favorite!) and mixed in Beech-Nut® Naturals spinach, zucchini, & peas. Both girls go crazy for this!

For dinner, I serve up our favorite meatball recipe, tossed with Beech-Nut® Naturals sweet potatoes. The sweet potato puree is a lot less acidic than tomato sauce.
