Speedy Spaghetti Sauce

Is pasta your go-to for a fast dinner? Try this recipe from our partner Eileen Thomas, RDN, CSP, LD. She’s a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and is Board Certified as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition. She put together this recipe as an easy (and healthy!) way to turn classic spaghetti with meat sauce into something slightly healthier — and as a great way to use up baby food jars from your cabinet!

Speedy Spaghetti Sauce

Easy and nutrient-packed! This recipe is full of nutrient-packed vegetables from the tomato sauce and Beech-Nut® vegetable purees while the ground meat provides muscle building protein, an important nutrition for growing babies.

What You Need

Serves 6-8

  • 1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
  • 1 jar (24 oz) prepared spaghetti sauce
  • 2 jars (4 oz each) Beech-Nut® or Beech-Nut® Naturals vegetable purees (green beans, sweet potatoes or any other vegetable variety)
  • 1 package (10-14 ounces) dried whole wheat spaghetti or other pasta of your choice

Directions

  • In a large pot over medium-high heat cook ground meat until no longer pink. Add spaghetti sauce and vegetable purees; stir well. Bring to a simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package directions.
  • Serve sauce over hot cooked pasta.
