Mango Mint Slushy

Mango Mint Slushy

I am stubbornly refusing to believe that summer is almost over. With the pools closing, school starting back up and the early mornings getting darker and cooler, I am finding myself holding on with a tight grip to the warm afternoon sun, my worn out flip flops and my iced coffees.

I just can’t let go. Summer is too amazing to give up on so easily.

So for the last little stretch of summer, my girls and I can be found on my front porch soaking up the last rays of warmth and drinking these sweet Mango Mint Slushies.

There’s room for everyone on my front porch, so come on over and join us!

All we have to do to make our summer Mango Mint Slushies is blend up a jar of Naturals mango purée, add in a few fresh mint leaves and a squeeze of lime for a healthy and tasty slushy. Since there is no added sugar, this slushy is perfect for both baby and toddler!!

mango slushy ingredients

First, let’s talk about my love for mint.

Cool, refreshing mint is a great herb to add into baby’s spice repertoire.

Mint helps alleviate tummy troubles, such as indigestion, nausea and stomach cramping. You may find that your baby’s (and even toddler’s) delicate digestive organs are very sensitive when being first introduced to new foods, and mint is a great way to naturally calm them and help baby digest foods properly.

Mint also helps clear up congestion of the nose, throat and lungs, helps to prevent cancer and promotes higher memory retention and alertness. So adding mint to baby’s food is highly encouraged, just not right before bedtime:). Learn more about the health benefits of mint here.

how to make mango slushy for babies

It may be hard to believe but this refreshing and nutritious slushy is great for any age – babies (typically around 9 months of age), toddlers and even adults love this cold beverage!

If your baby is drinking from a sippy cup or through a straw, then this slushy is for them.

The first time I made this Mango Mint Slushy, my entire family sat around my kitchen and helped me taste test this recipe – it’s always nice to have 3 food critics in the house;). But the first try was spot on and we went through not one batch, but FOUR batches of this recipe within 5 minutes!

It was a major hit!

Now a staple in our house, I love serving this slushy as a quick breakfast on a hot day, an afternoon snack or even as a sweet dessert. And even though I haven’t tried it yet, I am pretty sure this recipe would make amazing popsicles.

Since this slushy is loaded with over 20 different vitamins and minerals, fiber and antioxidants and contains no added sugar, I am happy to double or triple this recipe every single day for my entire family!

mango slushy baby recipe

Mango Mint Slushy
  • 1 jar Naturals mango purée
  • 4-5 mint leaves, torn into small pieces
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
Instructions
  1. In a blender, add in the mango purée, mint leaves, lime juice and ice cubes and blend for 1-2 minutes until the ice is broken down and smooth. For babies, I like to blend for the full 2 minutes so the slushy is more of a smoothie consistency. For toddlers, I only blend for 1 minute so there are more ice chunks and closer to a real slushy consistency.
  2. Pour into sippy cup or cup with a thick straw and serve in the sun on a hot day.
  3. Enjoy!
