Beech-Nut’s Giving: Helping Hands 2023

Beech-Nut continued community impact programs in 2023.

Through various efforts, Beech-Nut supported multiple communities, near and far, this past year. These efforts would not have been possible without our incredibly dedicated Beech-Nut Helping Hands Team, led by Brittany Duncan, Talent Acquisition Specialist, and Amanda Ettinger, Consumer Engagement Manager!

#518Day:

#518Day is a local event led by the United Way of the Greater Capital Region. United Way gives companies and community members a chance to participate in various fundraising and donation efforts for local groups in need each year. For the fourth year in a row, Beech-Nut participated in the “Stuff the Bus” event, in which we donated over 14,000 products to support local families  in the Albany, N.Y. area.

City of Amsterdam Summer Camp:

In 2023, we continued to sponsor the City of Amsterdam Summer Camp. This camp runs for six weeks each summer and gives local kids, kindergarten and up, the opportunity to visit the community pool, engage in arts & crafts, play sports, and participate in educational programs (including nutrition education!).

Thanksgiving Meal Kits & Holiday Adopt-A-Family:

This past November, Beech-Nut employees donated to the creation of Thanksgiving meal kits to feed 30 families in need in both Canajoharie, N.Y. and Amsterdam, N.Y. The meal kits included all of the fixings for the holiday meal such as veggies, stuffing, dessert, holiday napkins, and a grocery gift card so that families can purchase their own turkeys. During the Christmas season, Beech-Nut employees again worked together to gather holiday gifts to support 16 local children at the Greater Amsterdam School District and the Canajoharie Central School District.

7th Annual Beech-Nut Gives Back:

Last year also brought us our seventh-annual Beech-Nut Gives Back event! Once again, we teamed up with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, Bimbo Bakeries, and regional farms, including Genecco Produce, to put together boxes of nutritious foods including Beech-Nut jars and pouches, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, and shelf-stable pantry items. Employee volunteers loaded boxes into the cars of 1,000 local families during the one-day, drive through event hosted in Beech-Nut’s parking lot.

Field Trips to the Zoo:

In 2023, we visited five different cities across the country to partner with zoos and give out samples of our Dino Biscuits… but that’s not all! We also sent four pre-school classes on Dino-themed field trips to these fantastic zoos. We were so excited to give the kids of A2Z Learning Center, Texas, Longstreth Head Start Pre-K, Pa., Shooting S.T.A.R.S. Preschool & Daycare, Ariz., and Little Learner’s Playhouse & Preschool, Mo., the chance to get outside and experience many of the great activities and exhibits these zoos had to offer. Throughout this initiative, we not only gave away field trips and nearly 25,000 bags of Dino Biscuits, but we also donated $40,000 through sponsorships to support the Philadelphia, Dallas, St. Louis, and Phoenix zoos. Read the full recap of our 2023 Dino Events here.

Employee Art Show Fundraiser:

During the holiday season, we hosted a Beech-Nut employee and family art show, right here at our facility in Amsterdam, N.Y. The art show consisted of many beautiful donations of art created by our employees and their children. All proceeds from the art sales remained local, benefitting Amsterdam’s Creative Connections Clubhouse. This organization provides a “safe, sober, and supportive” environment for local children and teens to engage in fun, educational activities to enrich personal development. Our silent auction proceeds will be applied towards the construction of a basketball gym at the clubhouse.

We are so excited to give more in 2024!
